The People for LeRoi Robinson-Grant Committee
Dedication, determination and leadership are necessary qualities of any sheriff and LeRoi Robinson-Grant has an abundance of all three.
Mr. Robinson-Grant, candidate for Dorchester County Sheriff, was born in 1982. He is a lifelong resident of Maryland and, seven years ago, decided to move his family to Dorchester County.
He chose to enlist in the United States of America Marine Corps after the 9/11/01 terrorists attack. His training was featured in the Washington Post. He is a true believer of being held accountable while enhancing the quality of life. He embodies the Marine Corps motto: Honor, Courage and Commitment.
As a family man, with his wife of 11 years and their 3-year-old son, he knows how important safety is, which is his #1 priority. There is no better way to do that than to keep Dorchester County safe for everyone as Sheriff.
For the past 10 years, Mr. Robinson-Grant has been a fitness professional and a community organizer. He has trained everyone from professional athletes to the youth. He has worked as the fitness coordinator for the Boys 2 Men (club), a subsidiary of Choices in Easton, MD. As a community organizer, when no one else would, he jumped in and had successfully advocated for the residents of The Gallery on New Hampshire, whose trash had not been picked up for over a month. Off duty, he has come to the aid of those in need on the eastern shore. From providing aid to those who have crashed their car, to providing rides home to those in need. Earlier this year, a Preston family was stuck on the side of the road late one night. When Mr. Robinson-Grant called local law enforcement, no agency had time for or, due to regulations, could give any assistance. So he once again gave the couple and their son a ride home.
Mr. Robinson-Grant is looking forward to serving the good citizens of Dorchester County and earning their trust. When asked what he will do as Sheriff, Mr. Robinson-Grant responded, “I will make the Sheriff department more community focus. You cannot effectively protect the community, if you do not know the community. In other words, there is no sheriff office without its citizens. There is no me without you. I matter because you do!”
We all aspire to do great things. I chose to be a Marine and take immense pride in that. I also chose to help people regardless of their situation through my works as a community organizer for District 1. Now I am looking forward to doing great things as Sheriff of Dorchester County.
There is a joy in the duty to the public and a sense of pride that comes with being a servant to the people that is unmatched. For the citizens to know that they can look to you for support when needed, for safety when it's called for, and care when it is warranted are strengths of mine that I will continue to do in the new role as
Dorchester County Sheriff.
Honor takes courage, and to maintain it takes commitment. "Honor, Courage, Commitment” is the only way I know how to live life. My time in the Marine Corps made sure of that as it is our motto. It is what I will carry with me into the role of Dorchester County Sheriff.
I MATTER BECAUSE YOU DO!

In this position I can best help Dorchester County, especially with my profound interest in constitutional law. This will give me the opportunity to make sure the constitutional rights of everyone is upheld. It's what I love to do.
First thing I would do is make sure that everyone within the sheriff’s office has a general knowledge of the United States and Maryland’s constitutional laws. Why? Through my dealings with the State of MD and people who work for it, there is little to no understanding of said constitution. I believe in order to effectively work in law enforcement you need to understand what you gave an oath to, that it should mean something.
Make sure everyone has read the constitution so that they can effectively do things and promote it. Also, instilling a physical fitness program to ensure our deputies are healthy so they can serve the community effectively and that if anything like Covid comes up, it will not be an issue as we will be a healthy department.
On day one, I will assess what works well and what doesn’t. I will make adjustments when I see them. My goal is to improve upon what already works. From my previous interactions with the Sheriff’s Office, my main goal is to fix any issues so that the Department benefits everyone. With the concern of videos and the negative press we have all seen, the last thing I want is for the Sheriff’s Department to look bad. We are a force for good and I want the media and the community to see and believe it.
I have studied constitutional law for the last decade. I want to ensure that we, in the Sheriff’s Department, conduct ourselves according to the constitution. It is extremely essential and important that all activities are for the betterment of the community.
I have proudly served in the military as a Marine. That is technically the toughest academy in the nation. In addition, I continue to be physically fit and as a fitness professional, I often work out in between clients. I am mentally and physical fit to handle the job as Sheriff of Dorchester County.
The first thing I would love to do is to get to know and acknowledge the hard work of all the Deputies and staff under my command. Encourage them to work with me, under the definition of the constitution and to make sure the law and constitution are being followed to the betterment of our community. My hope is this will give them a sense of pride in a position that is sometimes under appreciated. I would be looking at incentives, including monetary, so they see that I know they are part of an important and vital team in Dorchester County. I also want to encourage them to be the best Law Enforcement Officers in Maryland.
As Sheriff, I want to make the department more community focus. You cannot effectively protect the community if you do not know the community. In other words, there is no Sheriff Office without its citizens. There is no me without you.
I matter because you do!”
